BDC were commissioned to provide Structural and Civil engineering design services in relation to a complex rooftop extension of 1-2 stories above an existing and occupied building. The design involved forming a new steel grillage above the existing roof to support and transfer the loads from the extension to the existing column grid under and justification of existing structure for additional vertical and lateral loads. Our design assessment also included assessment of lightweight new build structure for potential vibration loads for end user comfort.
