BDC were engaged to assist with the refurbishment and repair of a grade II listed shop/residential property.
The property had been subjected to a number of historic alterations which had compromised the original structure this combined with deuteration and decay of the of the restraint afforded to the front façade by the rafters to the roof.
The front façade to the building had a significant bow which was progressive and required additional restraint and repair including repair to rotten central timber post support to the bresummer beam at first floor over the shop front.

Orsett Hall

BDC provided the Structural and Civil engineering services in relation to an extension to Orsett Hall which included the creation of heath suite and spa facilities, gym, function room and bar together with an additional 12 bedrooms.
Works include construction of a piled basement structure with underground tunnel/link structure to the main hotel building all supporting a concrete transfer plate at ground floor in turn supporting a two-storey steel frame structure.

New build extension consisting of 22 bed Hotel, Function areas, new Kitchen, Bar and Health Spa extension to existing 4-star hotel is set in 12 acres of landscaped gardens.

The project consisted of a contiguous piled basement and access tunnel to the existing Hotel with a grade 3 waterproof lining walls to accommodate the health suite and Swimming pool. The superstructure comprised a steel frame over ground floor to provide clear span flexible function and banqueting space and support the hotel bedroom accommodation at first floor level above.

Christ Church

BDC provided Structural Engineering services in relation to this new build Church.
The development was proposed on an inner-city brownfield site and owing to the site constraints and the aspirations for the end use lead to development of an interesting arrangement with a sloping roof structure supported from a central curved hub.
The main structure was designed using a hot rolled steel frame supported off insitu concrete curved central hub.
